Two Pair of Fu Dogs from my collection

So here are a pair of Fu Dogs I’ve had in my collection for quite some time and I don’t believe I’ve ever shared them here (6 pictures per each, 24 total pictures) – enjoy!<br>

The pair with the horns are more like “The Qi Lin is a mythical creature belonging to the Taoist Goddess of the West Xi Hwang Mu. Sometimes called a Chinese Unicorn, the Qi Lin has the head of a dragon, the body of a horse and the scales of the carp.” (linked: https://fudogblog.wordpress.com/2009/05/17/this-is-not-a-fu-dog-pi-yao-pi-xie-pi-xiu-kei-loon-kirin-qi-lin-bi-shou-chimera/) but I don’t mind since they are quite fantastic and one has its paw on a ball (and so, in a vague way, partake in the history of ‘guardian’ animals).

  1. I have a couple of sets very similar to these (the blue ones are especially striking). I’ve noticed there are differences – sometimes subtle, sometimes not – between Japanese foo dogs and Chinese foo dogs. I’ve also heard/seen them called many diverse names. It doesn’t matter to me either …. I love them all. 🙂
